We all know the old adage; Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for life. The Ibo people of Ahaizu Mbaise in Imo State Nigeria are an agricultural community that has never had the benefits of modern farming methods. The farming chores are all done by hand. The cassava that is their main crop must be processed within 48 hrs or it decays. This processing is also done by hand. The lack of clean water and poor soil conditions also limit the crops of these hand working people. Our objective in to assist them in helping them build a better life for their families and the community at large and to improve the outlook for future generations.

Many millions of people in Sub-Saharan Africa know poverty, hunger and thirst as a normal part of life. This familiarity does not diminish the hunger pains or the parched throats that accompany them as they lay down at night to fall asleep and hopefully find the only respite they may get from the harsh realities of their tragic lives. When water is available during the rainy season it is often tainted with disease. And in these areas of the world, the lack of medicines and proper health care means a simple cold can often lead to death. Our modern world has the resources to alleviate these deplorable conditions and help lift our fellow man from the cycle of poverty.

The Obinwanne Farmers Inc. objectives are to raise funds and medical supplies to improve the deplorable conditions the people of this community live in. The funds would be used to dig water wells for clean water and irrigation. We would also invest in farm equipment to help harvest the crops and production eqiupment to process the crops and prepare them for market. The medical supplies would be given to a team of doctors associated with the Obinwanne farmers Ltd in Nigeria where medical care is scarce and if found, very expensive.

These steps can make an enormous difference in the economic outlook and future for the Ogbe people. These people receive no assistance from the Nigerian goverment. Even simple request for much needed fertilizer have gone unanswered.

We are concentrating our efforts in the Central New York area and hoping to adopt this small region of Nigeria to help these people lift themselves from poverty and give them hope for the future generations to come.
